JTA Cancels the 2022 Gift of Life Celebration

Unfortunately and once again, with great precaution and concern for our transplant patients and others who may be immunocompromised, the JTA Board of Directors has decided to cancel the Gift of Life Celebration due to ongoing concerns with COVID-19 and its many variants.  As in past years, the health and safety of our attendees is of foremost importance, and putting anyone at risk is simply not an option.  If we cannot hold a safe event for everyone, we will not hold an event.

We have been asked about holding a virtual event, but given the type of event it is, and the in-person, one-to-one contact that is the focus of our event, we will not be hosting any online event.

LifeQuest, however, will host their Tribute to Life as both an in-person event and virtual event at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach.  The event date is Friday, October 21, 2022. Please attend their event in person or online if you can.  More information is available on LifeQuest's website.

We once again hope for better circumstances next year.  Watch for details here on our website and of course, we will keep our Facebook page updated.  As always, please stay safe and stay well, everyone.

What is the Gift of Life Celebration?

Our Gift of Life Celebration is an annual event for transplant recipients, their families, donor family members, living donors, and transplant professionals.  The event features medical staff from Mayo Clinic speaking on topics of interest to transplant recipients.  The celebration also offers the opportunity for transplant recipients and donor families to connect and share their stories of donation and transplant.  A catered lunch, music, a game of Transplant Trivia, and a beautiful butterfly release all highlight our day.

The Gift of Life Celebration is held in mid-October and is accompanied by Tribute to Life, a donor recognition ceremony hosted by LifeQuest Organ Recovery Services.  Donor families, living donors, and transplant recipients are all invited to attend.  Both events will be held at Christ Episcopal Church in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Each event provide an excellent opportunity to renew friendships and to meet donor family members and recipients.  Watch for details as they become available each summer and an online photo gallery following each event, right here on JaxTransplant.org.
